
Today the high schoolers participated in a "Bite of Reality". The students participated in a simulation where they were given an occupation, salary, student loan debt, credit card debt, cost of medical insurance, etc. They had to build a monthly budget and visit eight merchants to purchase items. It was a great experience for the students. Explorers Credit Union and the Department of Labor and Regulation hosted the event. Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help today.









Today was National School Principal Day! On behalf of the Avon School District, we would like to thank our K-12 Principal Mrs. Lindsey Fathke for making a difference in the lives of children in the Avon community! We appreciate all that she does for our students, staff, families, and community!

The 5th and 6th graders took a field trip to Sioux Falls today! They toured Dakota News Now and learned about news and broadcasting. They also checked out the exhibits at The Old Courthouse Museum.









The Avon Pirates softball game with Freeman today (Tuesday, April 30) has been cancelled.

The softball game is in Marion today, not Freeman. Varsity starts at 5pm followed by JV.

The K-2 students went to the Washington Pavillion today for their field trip. They had a blast!








Megan Gretschmann went to Pierre today for the Governor's Luncheon to receive her Academic Achievement Award.

Landon Thury, Megan Gretschmann, McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees will be competing at the Genius Olympiad at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. The competition accepted 367 projects from 1014 submissions. Entries came from 33 states as well as from countries including South Korea, Ukraine, China, and others.The competition will be held the Week of June 10th – June 14th Afterwards, the students will spend 1 day in Washington DC and two days in New York City. Congratulations and good luck!


The softball triangular for tomorrow with Redfield and Castlewood has been postponed.

The senior class was invited to Springfield today with Mrs. Cahoy for a Senior Government Day. They learned about local government, how federal and state legislators work with local governments, and citizen involvement. Thank you to Springfield Mayor Scott Kostal for inviting our students to be a part of this event!



Today was Administrative Professionals Day! We would like to thank Mrs. Julie Mudder for her 35 years of dedicated service to the students, staff, and families of the Avon School District! Today, Mrs. Mudder was honored with numerous cards, flowers, and gifts to thank her for all that she does for our school system! Thank you, Mrs. Mudder!



The 7th and 8th graders had a fun day at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. They participated in a variety of archery, fishing, and orienteering activities.

Thursdays softball game against Viborg-Hurley has been moved to a 4PM start time.

Great performances last night by our choir and band students! It was a great showcase of all your talents. It was also a great opportunity to recognize our seniors that have been in band and/or choir for four years. Thank you for your dedication!
