The theme for tonight's volleyball game is "camouflage." Let's pack the ship tonight, Pirate Nation. Go Big Red!

The AHS oral interpretation team competed in the 41st Karl Mundt Oral Interpretation Tournament in Madison on Saturday, October 27.
The team members include Lexi Vanderlei, Ella Hamilton, Hope Kemnitz, Kaydence Metzger, Jeanah Ratzlaff, Jake Namminga, Charli Paulsen, Coach Carol Swier, Abby Gretschmann, Irelynn Small, Erica Cahoy, Kate Swier, and Pria Sesler.
Over 225 competitors from more than 20 schools displayed their talents in poetry, oratory, humor, storytelling, drama, duet, and reader's theatre.
The Avon team was awarded the B School Sweepstakes Trophy. Kate Swier represented Avon in the finals round.
The team will participate in the District 3B contest in Mitchell on Wednesday, November 6.

Halfway to 100! The First Graders celebrated day 50 today by dressing up like the Fifties!


In Honor of National School Bus Safety Week, we would like to thank Lenny, April, David, and Brandon for safely getting our students to and from all their events. Thank You!

We sent our runners off to State Cross Country this morning! Best of luck to these four gentlemen and Coach Jurrens as they compete tomorrow!

The Avon Pirates will host Canistota Thursday, October 31st. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.

Congratulations to Josie Schloss for winning the 4H Recognition Coloring Contest! Josie is a 3rd grade student at Avon Elementary School and a member of the Sweet Clover 4H Group. Her parents are Chris and Brooke Schloss. Great Job to all the kids who participated in the contest!


On Monday, October 28th. The JV Volleyball game in Gayville-Volin will start at 6:00 and the Varsity will follow.

The Creative English students had the opportunity to travel to Brookings today and attend the South Dakota High School Press Convention. This was a wonderful experience for students to learn more about topics such as journalism, artificial intelligence, news/media, and more! To top it off, they were able to enjoy lunch together at Buffalo Wild Wings!

The Football Playoff Game on Thursday, October 24th will start at 6:00 pm. The Pirates will be playing Jones County. Go Big Red!!! Admission prices Adults $7.00, Students $5.00. Avon Activity Tickets will not be accepted as this is a SDHSAA sponsored activity.

A big thank you to Trooper Samantha Pulse for teaching the physics students how to calculate vehicle speed from skid marks. We had one unruly child that had to be "cuffed and stuffed!" We are very grateful to all our public safety officers for keeping our highways and communities safe.



On the Friday, October 25th when the Lady Pirates play Menno in Volleyball. The Junior Varsity Volleyball match will start at 5:30.

As we celebrate National School Lunch Week, we would like to thank these three ladies for keeping our crew well-fed! Students thank our cooks today for the great job they do.
