Avon School District 4-1

In December, the Student Council raised money for Dakotathon. Teachers volunteered to have their names placed on containers and students put money in the container of the teacher who they wanted to get pied in the face! Thank you to our amazing teachers who were lucky to get pied, Mrs. Podzimek, Mr. Lagge, and Mr. Leibel. Overall, the student council raised $154.12!

Post Prom will be serving supper Monday night starting at 5 pm before the basketball games.

Avon Drama Club competed in the Region One Act Play competition on Wednesday, January 17th in Mitchell. They secured 2nd place with their performance of “Booby Trap” and advance on to the State One Act Festival which will be held in Brandon Valley on February 1st-3rd. There will be a matinee performance of the one act play on Sunday, January 21st at 1:00pm at the Avon High School gym. There is no admission charge for this show. Those earning a Superior Acting Award from the region competition were Noah Watchorn, Caleb Wallinga, and Kate Swier. Following the matinee performance on Sunday, Post Prom will be selling root beer floats!

Due to the forecasted snow and high wind gusts with blowing snow causing poor visibility, the Avon School District will have an early release today, Thursday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m. All after school practices and evening activities have been postponed or cancelled. Thank you.

Congratulations to McKenna Kocmich, Courtney Sees, and Grace Vanderlei for making Academic All-State in volleyball! The Lady Pirate Volleyball Team earned Team Academic All-State. This is earned when the team maintains above a 3.5 GPA. Way to go ladies!

The Wrestling Duel for tonight vs Parkston has been moved to Friday at 630 in Tyndall. The schedule for tonight's Basketball games is Boys C game at 4, Both JV at 5, Girls Varsity at 6, followed by Boys.

Due to the wind chill warning, road conditions, and no travel being advised in parts of Bon Homme County, there will be NO SCHOOL in the Avon School District on Monday, January 15. All practices and activities for Monday have been postponed or cancelled. Thank you.

There will be NO Archery practice on Sunday, January 14. The next practice will be Sunday, January 21 from 2 - 4 pm.

The girls wrestling tournament in Harrisburg scheduled for January 12th is cancelled. The MS wrestling tournament scheduled for Saturday in Huron is also cancelled.

The Basketball DH for tonight with Scotland has been postponed due to the forecasted weather.

The wrestling triangular for tonight in Bon Homme has been postponed.

The start times for tonight's DH vs Scotland has been moved up 1 hour. There are no JV games, the JH games will be played at the same time in both gyms at 4, Girls Varsity starts at 515, followed by Boys.

The BBB game for Saturday January 13th vs KWL has be postponed until Feb 16th. the schedule will be 5/6 at 430, JH at 530, JV at 630 followed by Varsity,
