Tomorrow at school, each class will take time to remember and honor those who lost their lives 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. Teachers will use age-appropriate materials from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to help students understand the historical significance of this day.
In addition, our school will observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
We encourage families to talk with their children about the significance of September 11 and the lessons we can continue to learn from it. While we remember the tremendous loss and tragedy of that day, we also remember the courage, compassion, unity, and perseverance demonstrated in the days and years that followed.
September 11 is now recognized as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance—a reminder that even in the face of acts of hatred and evil, goodness can endure. May we honor those who were lost by continuing to care for one another, serve our communities, and recognize the good we can accomplish when we come together.

The South Central Cooperative is hosting a developmental screening at Avon School on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. This screening helps check your child's milestones in motor skills, language, thinking, and vision.
Current Avon Preschoolers: Will be screened during the regular school day. No action needed!

Here is some information pertaining to the Football Game on Friday night in Dell Rapids. The game is the Kelo Game of the Week. Also, you see some instructions for parking and entrance into the game.
GAME INFORMATION 1. Fans can park in either DRPS lot north or south of the school, or on a side street. 2. All will enter through the main gate to the west of the bleachers. 3. Concession and restrooms will be located in the main building where fans enter. 4. St. Mary’s fans will sit on the home bleachers. Visiting fans will sit on the visitor bleachers. Please use the cement path around the field to get to the visitor side. Do not go through the fence and game field. There are two Portable restrooms on that side. 5. NO FANS ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE FENCE, ON THE TRACK OR ON THE FIELD. Please stay behind the fence at all times. 6. Please pick up all trash and use the trash bins in the bleachers to make clean-up easier after games! 7. NO FANS will be allowed on the field after the game. Fans can meet their team by the bleachers after the game.
