This week the elementary celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday with dress-up days and reading books. Read Across America Day is in honor of Dr. Suess and is celebrated on or around March 2. The students ended the week with a Dr. Suess movie with popcorn and cookies!

We would like to thank everyone who supported the Avon Science Fair. We gave out around $2700 in prize money! Thanks to everyone who bought a Sportsman’s raffle ticket to help this cause. Other prize money was sponsored by Jim and Carol Frey, Michael and Amanda Ratzlaff, Paul and Brenda Pudwill, Berndt Farm Equipment and the Avon Community Bank. A special thanks from the Tolsma’s Cove NFL Wind chime and Friends for their donation. All proceeds from the wind chimes were donated to the science fair! We are now looking forward to the Regional Science fair, which is in Brookings on March 28th.
Preschool - 4th grade enjoyed Muffins with Mom yesterday. Thank you to all our special guests for coming to read with the students and enjoy some muffins!

The Avon Pirate boy's basketball team will play in the first round of the Region 5B tournament Monday night at 7:00 PM. The Pirates will host AC/DC. Go Pirates!!

Here is the bracket for the Region 5B Girls Basketball Tournament.
There will be a sendoff for the wrestlers that have qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament Tuesday morning, February 21st. Those wanting to participate are to form a tunnel out front of the school by 9:05 AM. The wrestlers will leave for Tyndall to practice at 10:00 AM and will leave for Rapid City at 12:30 PM to beat the forecasted storm. Good luck to all Bon Homme/Avon wrestlers!!
The Lady Pirate basketball team will take on Corsica-Stickney on Tuesday, February 21st in the Region 5B tournament. Game time will be 6:00 PM in Corsica. The earlier start time is to get fans home sooner before severe weather arrives. Admission for the games in $6 for adults and $4 for students. Good luck Lady Pirates.
Congratulations to the Bon Homme/Avon Wrestlers that qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament that will be held in Rapid City from February 23rd to the 25th. The individual tournament will be held on Thursday and Friday, with the team duals on Saturday. The Bon Homme/Avon wrestlers are the number 1 seed in the dual tournament. Good luck to all of the Bon Homme/Avon Wrestlers at the State Tournament.
