Reminder: There will be a Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition at the football field immediately following the parade.

The Avon Booster Club will be selling Pirate apparel during the Homecoming Parade on Friday. They will be located at the football field by the concession stand. Also, the Booster Club will be hosting a Tailgate Supper at the football field from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday evening. Go Pirates!!

The Junior High and JV football games that were scheduled for Tuesday have been moved to Monday and will be played in Alcester. The track/football facility will be closed starting Saturday morning through at least Wednesday for the track resurface. The JV game will start at 3:45, followed by the JH game, due to Coronation for Alcester-Hudson Monday evening

Due to changes from the construction company there will be a different parade route this Friday. If you have any questions, please call the District Office.

Attached is the map of the parade route for Homecoming this Friday at 1:30 PM. Parade entries should start lining up by 1:00 PM by the discus area. The announcer will be in the north school parking lot. All vehicles MUST parallel park along 2nd street to allow enough room for parade entries to safely pass.

Parents: As a reminder, please take a moment and complete the Free and Reduced Application for the 2021-2022 school year. Even though lunches are free for all families this year, the applications are very important as they determine grant funding for the school. Extra copies are available in the school office if needed.

The Avon Pirate football field and track complex will be closed to everyone until Tuesday, September 7th due to the track resealing process.

The JH GVB tournament is canceled on Saturday, September 4.

MITCHELL CROSS COUNTRY 2021 RESULTS Hot and humid were the words of the day. I was very happy that each and every runner from Avon completed the race. I was also very pleased how the team came together and helped each other after one finished the run. Also thanks to the parents for their support and encouraging words that they gave to their child and to others running. It is great to get that kind of support in this activity. The Lady Pirate Volleyball team will be playing in the Championship of the Hanson Early Bird tournament Thursday evening in Alexandria. The match is scheduled to start at 8:15 PM, but may start earlier, since they will follow a rolling schedule for the earlier matches. Good luck Lady Pirates!!

Dear Avon School District Families, School lunch is more important than ever in these uncertain times. School meals provide nourishment that allows students to excel in the classroom and lead happy, healthy lives. They also help families stretch their food budget. This school year the Avon School District is proud to be able to offer free meals to all students, thanks to a waiver granted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Even as our district continues to provide free meals to all students, we still ask families to submit school meals applications. These applications are used for more than determining eligibility for free and reduced-price meals. At the District level, free and reduced student numbers are used to help determine state and federal grant funding. These grants are an important part of the Avon School District’s budget. This year these applications can also qualify parents for Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits. Here is some information to consider as you fill out an application for your family: • Only one application is needed per family; if you have more than one child attending a school in our district, you only need to submit one application for all children. • Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year. • Families also can submit a new application if there is a change in the household, such as a parent loses a job or has their work hours cut. A new application must be submitted each school year. • Eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals is determined based on the federal income guidelines. Children may be eligible automatically for free school meals if one or more family members participates in a federal nutrition program, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or if they are classified as homeless, runaway, or migrant. • All families enrolled in the district can apply for free or reduced-price school meals. • Applications are confidential and do not require a Social Security number. • What you will need to fill out the application: o Your case number if you participate in SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR. o If not, you will need to provide your family’s total pre-tax income data, including:  the earnings of anyone in your household with a job;  Social Security or retirement benefits for anyone in your household; and other sources of income. You can find the school meals application for our district, along with detailed instructions on how to complete it, in the school office. A copy was also mailed to families.
