We are looking at putting a fan bus together for the state dual tournament in Watertown on February 10th. The cost is looking like it will be approximately $50 a person. We are just reaching out to see how much interest there would be (number of seats interested in or needed). The approximate leave time would be 7 AM and return after the tournament is done, approximately 5 PM. There’s a possibility we could stop to eat on the way back. If you have interest please message Ben Hellmann on Facebook Messenger. We’re going to make a decision by the end of the week and will communicate if we do commit to putting one together.

Circulation of nominating petitions for Avon School Board may begin on January 26th, 2024. Last week, the 8th grade class got the opportunity to go to Wagner and go through the career fair. Here are some students checking out the different booths.

The Student Council will be hosting a "Share the Love" event. Anyone may bring items that they would like to donate to the Bargain Shoppe to the foyer at the school. Student Council members will bring all items to Tyndall when the drive is completed on February 19th.

SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING AVON SCHOOL DISTRICT 4-1 BOARD OF EDUCATION January 24th, 2024, 1:30 P.M., Board Room All motions passed unanimously by members present unless otherwise stated. Members Present: Chairwoman Bridgette Muller, Vice Chairman Joe Sees, Jeff Tolsma, Craig Vanderlei, and David Ratzlaff. Officers and Others Present: Superintendent Brian Field, Business Manager Jordan Kortan, Principal Lindsey Fathke, Julie Mudder, Brad Poppe, Becky Haenfler and Dawn Kocmich. Meeting called to order by Chairwoman Muller. (1:30 P.M.) Motion by Tolsma, seconded by Vanderlei to approve the agenda as presented. The Avon School Board declares “no conflicts of interest.” Motion by Tolsma, seconded by Sees to enter executive session per SDCL 1-25-2 (1) for superintendent interviews. (1:32P.M.) Congratulations to Mr. Paul Kuhlman who was hired by the Avon School Board last night, to be the next CEO/superintendent for the Avon School District, effective July 1, 2024! Mr. Kuhlman brings 36 years of math and science teaching experience to his new leadership role at Avon Schools, with 32 of his teaching years at Avon. Mr. Kuhlman earned his Master’s degree in Secondary Administration and Master’s degree in Natural Science from the University of South Dakota. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology Education from North Dakota State University. Mr. Kuhlman will bring his experience, education, and leadership ability to guide the Avon School District into the future! Congratulations Mr. Kuhlman!
