Each spring the school board honors one of our excellent teachers as the Teacher of the Year! Below is the link to vote for a teacher. Please notice that something different this year is we are asking for some short comments as to why you selected that particular staff member. I know it is a difficult choice as all of our teachers pour their heart and soul into making a difference in each child's life! Your participation in this process is much appreciated. The survey will be open for one week. Hooks up!

This week, we are starting our Smarter Balanced State testing. To get an accurate picture of the true ability of our students, it is important they give maximum effort. In addition, perseverance is an important attribute that we are working on with our students. Please emphasize the importance of effort and perseverance to your child. Let's knock these tests out of the ballpark! Pirate Pride!

The track team had a "Selfie" run on Friday! The kids ran to several businesses in town and snapped a picture with a community member. Thanks to our kids for reaching out to these businesses and thanks to all the community members for supporting our track team! Go Pirates!

The Junior English class is currently reading The Great Gatsby, a classic American Literature novel set in the 1920's. To get everyone in the spirit, Mrs. Hubbell threw them a 1920's-themed party. Students had to create either a "mocktail" or appetizer that would have been served at a Gatsby party and give a brief speech over why it would've been served there. Students then enjoyed their creations while watching a film version of the story!

The Avon track team is officially underway with their season. With nearly 60 kids on the team, we are looking forward to a great season with nice weather!

Put me in, coach. I'm ready to play! Spring has arrived. Be sure to sign up your future big leaguer for summer baseball/softball on April 6th, 6:00 pm in the small gym. The summer fee is $40.00.
