The SDHSAA Academic Achievement Award is given to those varsity athletic programs and fine arts groups that maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA as a team. This award is designed to create a positive environment, as well as an incentive to encourage school teams to have members excel in both the classroom and activities. Below are the Fall programs that qualified for the award from Avon.

Congratulations to the volleyball team in making Team Academic All-State. This means as a team, they have a 3.5 or higher GPA! Kate Swier and Abby Gretschmann recieved Academic All-State individually. This is only for seniors who maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA. Congratulations Ladies!! 🏴‍☠️🏐

The Powerlifters were Dell Rapids today. Lance Odens placed 1st and the rest of the crew set new PRs in at least one of the three lifts. Great job everyone! 💪

The team competed in Yankton yesterday with 6 of our wrestlers scrapping on the mat. The team placed 10th out of 39 teams!! Check out these future teachers! 🍎 Avon’s Educators Rising group attended the Mount Marty Expo today! They listened to some great speakers, attended breakout sessions that interested them, and explored the campus! It was a great day to learn more about the education field!

Good luck to our drama kids as they perform at State One Act tonight in Brandon Valley. They will perform at the Brandon Valley High School. Performance time is 6:15 pm. We sent them off in true Pirate fashion with a tunnel! Break a leg kids!!

What a great crowd at the game tonight!! The 3rd and 4th graders did a fabulous job with the National Anthem under the direction of Mrs. Schultz! 🎵 We honored Rilyn Thury as our National Women in Sports nominee. 🏀 It was a great night to be a Pirate🏴‍☠️

The seniors took a trip to Pierre today. They started their day with breakfast at Al's Oasis. Had a Capitol tour with Caleb Finck. They got a picture with the Secretary of State Monae Johnson, Governor Rhoden, and Representative Drew Peterson. They got introduced in both the House and Senate side. They had a great day!

The National Honor Society will be hosting a Pirate Gear Rummage Sale on February 12 during the basketball doubleheader!
If you have any gently used Pirate gear you’d like to donate, please drop it off in the collection boxes located in the school lobby.
Items will be collected starting today through Tuesday, February 10th.
Support our school spirit, recycle your gear, and help raise funds for a great cause!
