Kicked off Homecoming week today! Great pep rally this afternoon and Coronation tonight. Congratulations to Queen Macy Voigt and King Aziah Meyer!
Come out and support the Pirates this week!
2024 Avon Football Cheer Squad. Go Big Red!
The Booster Club will be serving a tailgate supper before the football game on Friday night.
Go Pirates!
The 4th graders were learning the scientific method today. They conducted a lab to see how many drops of water they could fit on the top of a penny. They attempted with a plain penny and a soapy penny. Which do you think could hold more? Ask a 4th grader!
Joslynn from Season 24 of "The Voice" was able to come talk to the Avon High School Choir today. She shared interesting stories about her start with music, her audition process with "The Voice", fun stories about picking out her wardrobe for the show, her bond with judge Gwen Stefani, and other fascinating facts. What I made sure she pointed out and discussed was the size of her town. When attending public school her class size was around 20 kids and the population of her hometown is very similar to Avon's. That sparked the conversation about no matter the size of town you come from, you can do BIG things! She then performed her new song she wrote "Sand Castles". Just gorgeous. Afterwards, the Avon choir performed their Homecoming song for her and her mom. They had nothing but outstanding things to say about our sound for our small town. This was a great opportunity for our students, and I hope they enjoyed meeting this up and coming sweetheart of a singer!
It's Gameday Pirate Nation!
Gold Standard Pirates of the Week!
PK-4: Kayli Desheuquette-Ray
5-8: Raegan Brandt
9-12: Bree Vanderlei
Congratulations!!
Joslyn Rose from Season 24 of The Voice came to visit 3rd grade. We had a question and answer session, she sang us one of her original songs called Sand Castles that has not even yet been released, and gave us all autographed photos of herself. Thank you Mrs. Brandt for lining this up for us!!
The preschoolers had a special visitor today. Joslynn Rose who was on the Voice stopped in to visit and share with our youngest Pirates!
What a great evening last night in Avon hosted by the Chamber of Commerce! It was awesome seeing the community come together and have an end of the summer celebration. Thanks to everyone who donated to the Angel Fund. This fund is used to help pay for school lunches at school. Next Friday, the 13th, we have another huge community/school event with Homecoming. I encourage every business or community organization to enter a float for the homecoming parade. If you have never done a float before, give it a try, it is a lot of fun! It doesn’t take much, dress up a vehicle or trailer put your organization/business name on it and bring it on through! The parade sets sail at 1:30, the theme is Nickelodeon. Let’s have a big turn out from Pirate Nation, Go Big Red!
The Juniors will be serving an extended menu for the football game on Friday, September 6th. Concessions will open at 6:00 pm. Come support the Pirates and the Juniors.
Ah, the Joy of Science! 7th Graders are making 3-D cells. Inquiring minds want to know, is that a plant or animal cell?
Meet our Homecoming candidates!
Maesa Kuhlman, Mylie Bares, Ella Small, Kaeli Wallinga, Macy Voigt
Aziah Meyer, Jaydon Dreisen, John Fathke, Devin Rucktaeschel, Landon Mudder
Congratulations!
Gold Standard Pirates of the Week:
PK-4: Mataya Schultz
5-8: Brielle Voigt
9-12: Jake Namminga
Congratulations!
The 8th graders started their Thursday with a debate in English. They are learning how to write effective arguments and provide reasons to help persuade their audience!
