Congratulations to Lila Vanderlei who just returned from Washington DC where she participated in the National Stem Festival. The highlight of the Festival was the showcase of over 100 exceptional student innovations. Attendees also participated in mentor sessions, engaged in hands-on STEM activities, explored a public expo, and benefited from networking opportunities, among other exciting offerings. The National STEM Festival celebrates the exceptional talents of our nation's youth and the innovative businesses driving progress, all year round. Lila presented her project on using Histograms to detect soil moisture. Way to Go Lila, hope you enjoyed your week in DC

Congratulations to Abby Gretschmann for being selected for the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award! This award recognizes a junior who has shown outstanding achievement and superior intellectual promise in the field of science. This entitles her to a $20,000 scholarship over four years at the University of Rochester in New York. Way to Go Abby!


Summer signups for City Softball & Baseball on April 6


Here is a updated schedule for the Softball Triangular that will be held at the Sanford Softball Complex in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday, April 5th. The first game at 1:30 has Avon against Clark-Willow Lake, the 3:00 game is Clark-Willow Lake against Elk Point-Jefferson. And the final game at 4:30 will be Avon against Elk Point-Jefferson.

We are so proud of these students for representing Avon at the Region Science Fair in Brookings! We will post awards at a later date.


It was great to have the support today from some Avon Science Fair Alumni!

The K-8 students had a great assembly this afternoon watching the Spin-tacular Basketball Show produced by the Bruce and Diane Crevier family. They were finalists on "America's Got Talent", they've traveled to over 40 countries, and have been special guests for NBA halftime shows. Bruce is a five-time world record holder and has spun 30 basketballs at the same time!
You have the opportunity to come watch tonight at the gym at 7pm. It's free and open to the public.

There will be an FCA Basketball Clinic for girls and boys in 3rd-12th grade on Saturday, April 5th. Clinic will be held in the Scotland High School gyms. Space is limited to 60 athletes per session.
