The student council will host their coffe bar on Monday. Also, the canned food drive will be extended to next Wednesday. The student council appreciates the support!

Avon School will be closed on Friday, December 16th. No after school activities.

Parker and Corsica-Stickney have cancelled school today so there will not be a wrestling match or basketball double header tonight. The double header with Corsica-Stickney will be varsity contests only starting at Noon on Saturday, December 17th. No word on if the wrestling match will be rescheduled.

The Elementary Operetta scheduled for tonight at Avon School has been postponed until Friday, December 16th. Start time will remain at 7:00 PM. Also, there will not be any after school practices today.

Congratulations to Sarah Swier for being selected as a Page for the upcoming legislative session. Sarah will be traveling to Pierre in February. We know she will represent our school well! Congratulations!!

We officially have 4 authors in our community! These students wrote and created "Our Jungle Journey." It's a story about the animals you would see in the jungle. They researched and wrote about the various animals and illustrated the pictures. Great job!

Thank you to all who came and supported the Junior class Saturday night! They had a great turn-out for their soup supper and Bingo night! We greatly appreciate your support of our school!

The Avon Oral Interp Team competed at the 113th SDHSAA State Oral Interpretation Festival December 2 and 3rd in Mitchell. The following students received Superior rankings and gold medals: Ashley Tolsma (humorous), Kate Swier (storytelling), Sarah and Kate Swier (duet), and Sarah Swier (serious). The Avon team was also awarded a Class B Team Excellence award. Congrats, Team & Coach!!

Gold Standard Pirates of the week are Kaelee Pazour, Jaden Stahl, and Oaklie Petrik! Congratulations! The PK-4 celebrated another 500 coins today with a PJ day. Grades 5-8 earned 500 coins at the end of this week and will be celebrating next week with a PJ day as well! Keep up the great work!!

The season of giving has begun in the preschool room! The preschoolers held a pajama drive! We have 13 pairs to donate to the Scholastic Pajama program! For every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic donates a book to a child. Amazing job Preschoolers!

Reminder about the wrestling dual Thursday evening December 1st at Avon. Bon Homme/Avon will be taking on Wagner at 6:30 PM. There will be a meal at 5:15 PM in the Auxiliary Gym. Free will donation for the meal. There will also be youth exhibition wrestling matches from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM in the main gym.

After Student of the Month presentations, the student council members refreshed the Gold Standard Pirate Expectations with the elementary.
