Congratulations to Bode Podzimek, Brynlee Odens, and Parker Cihak for meeting their Book It reading goal for 6 months straight! They celebrated last Friday morning with Breakfast Club at A-1.

Summer Baseball and Softball sign-ups will be on Sunday, April 21st at 6 pm in the Auxiliary gym.

The Softball Tournament for tomorrow begins at 930 with Avon vs Hanson, and Bon Homme vs Scotland Menno. Its $5 for adults and $3 for kids, good for the day. Hope to see you there!
CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION RETURNS AVON SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 4-1 This is to certify that the results of the School District Election held on the 9th day of April 2024, were as follows: Craig Vanderlei 131 Votes, Matthew Grant 71 Votes, Annie Thury 152 Votes, Bridgette Muller 172 Votes and Joe Paulsen 29 Votes. The two candidates with the most votes were elected to three-year positions. There were 292 ballots cast out of the 401 official ballots. There were 292 ballots cast out of 794 registered voters, for a total voting percentage turnout of 36.7%.
Congratulations to Lila Vanderlei, Carmindy Ferwerda, Kaeli Wallinga, and Abby Gretschmann who won the 3rd place team award in the small school division at the USD math contest. Carmindy and Abby both received Outstanding awards while Kaeli and Lila received a superior. Lila finished second and Kaeli finished 1st in the Algebra II division. Great Job girls and thanks for your dedication to math!

The fourth graders completed a bridge for their latest STEM project. They learned about the strongest shapes and structures, how different bridges are built across the world, and got the opportunity to test theirs to see who could hold the most weight.






The Avon School Board Election will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Avon Fire Hall. Five school district residents are on the official ballot, running for the two 3-year terms on the Avon School Board. They include incumbents Bridgette Muller and Craig Vanderlei, and Annie Thury, Matthew Grant, and Joe Paulsen. Profiles on each of the candidates can be viewed in this week’s edition of the Avon Clarion.

Avon National Honor Society students asked staff and students to wear blue today to help recognize World Autism Day and the turn out was awesome! Great job!

Thayne Tjeerdsma, Weston Bierema, Tucker Tjeerdsma, and DeVonne Sesler wrestled for Team South Dakota this weekend at Heartland National Dual Championship Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Weston Bierema went 5-3
Thayne Tjeerdsma went 3-5
Tucker Tjeerdsma went 5-3
DeVonne Sesler went 8-0
DeVonne was awarded All-American honors and Elementary Team SD MVP.
Weston Bierema received MVP for MS Team SD.

Congratulations to AHS senior Courtney Sees on being named to the Class B All-State GBB 3rd Team! Courtney averaged 15.5 point per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and 3.6 assists per game for the Lady Pirates!
