The Junior High girls basketball tournament scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Avon School District will be closed on Friday, December 10th. Saturday detention and the Junior High Girls Basketball tournament will still be held.

If any students are missing clothing items, please check the lost and found items, located on first floor of the main school building. If parents are available during school hours, please stop by the school and check to see if any of the clothing items belong to your child. Items not claimed by Christmas break will be taken to the Bargain Shop over the break.

Congratulations to the Avon Oral Interp Team on their success at the State Oral Interpretation Festival in Huron. Of the seven events, the Avon District qualified six events for the State Festival. The following students received gold medals for receiving a superior rating during the competition.

A reminder of the Avon School gym access policy: Students that are in grades 7-12 can have access to the gym when they enter by themselves. Students in 6th grade and below must be accompanied by an adult, or a high school sibling. Students are not allowed to let other students into the gym when they enter with their families access code. Do not share your access code. Before leaving the gym all lights must be turned off and all balls and equipment must be put away. Failure to follow this policy will result in cancellation of your key code.

The Avon School District is accepting applications for the Business Manager position. Duties of the Business Manager include: accounts payable, payroll, monthly journal entries, all governmental accounting procedures, complying with federal and state statutes, and human resources. Applications are due Tuesday, November 23 to Superintendent Tom Culver. The tentative start date for the position is December 6, 2021. Qualifications for the applicant include: background in accounting procedures, a four year degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred), computer skills, and strong communication skills. On Wednesday, November 10th the Avon School will be holding their Veterans Day program. The program will start at 2:45 PM in the Main Gym. Justin Lukkes will be talking and showing pictures from his two deployments. The program is open to the public.

The Avon Music Department will be presenting their Fall Concert on Monday, November 8th. Students in grades 6-12 will be performing at the concert. The concert will start at 7:30 PM in the Avon Main Gymnasium.
