Mrs. Knodel's Pirate Time group finished their novel containing 52 chapters. They celebrated by having breakfast "soup" (Honey Nut Happy O's, peanut butter, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and milk) while watching The Tale of Despereaux. They noticed lots of differences between the book and the movie.

Following student of the month presentations, the high school student body and senior class officers went through the Gold Standard Expectations with the elementary students.

Cross County meet on Saturday, September 23 has been cancelled.

To wrap up Farm Safety Week, Mrs. Voigt invited Jaiden Boomsma and her dad Troy Boomsma to come and do a farm safety presentation for Kindergarten-4th grade students. Their family wrote a children's book that talks about safety around the farm. Jaiden read our students the book that honors her late brother, Jaxon Boomsma. The kids were able to watch a demo that shows the dangers of being in grain bins. They also shared several other protocols and ideas that help to ensure safety on the farm. Troy and Jaiden were gracious enough to give every K-4 student a copy of their book. We are very appreciative that they took the time to come and share some safety tips with our students!

Reminder: Tonight is parents' night for football. Please be at the field by 6:40pm.
The Music department will also be hosting a tailgate from 5-7pm.
Hope to see you there!

The preschoolers were down on the farm this week! We learned about different farm animals! Our favorite was painting pigs with chocolate pudding! We ended the week with Cowboy/cowgirl day!

Yesterday was an exciting day for the biology students! In class, the students had the opportunity to work hands-on with some fresh beef liver. They performed a series of tests to explore the activity of enzymes in animal tissues. Thank you to Southside Meats for donating the liver!
In the afternoon, the class traveled to Dave and Mary Walkes' pasture for an Outdoor Campus presentation. It was an engaging and interesting experience with many agriculture-related topics, such as rotational grazing, soil infiltration, uses of common native plants, and a rainfall simulation. Thank you to Dave and Mary, plus all of the presenters, for a fun afternoon!
